Trump (Cards)

Has President Trump dealt his last hand as the “savior of the west”. Recent social media posts and action on the world stage has lost POTUS significant credibility with what were steadfast supporters both in the US and Internationally.

As the 2026 midterm elections approach, President Donald Trump’s popularity is under renewed scrutiny, with analysts debating whether recent polling reflects meaningful erosion in support or continued skepticism toward survey data. Several polls indicate that Trump’s approval rating remains underwater nationwide 15 months into his second term, with particularly weak support among younger voters and independents. With control of Congress at stake in November, even modest shifts in public opinion are being closely monitored by strategists in both parties.

Interpretations of the data remain divided. Some analysts argue that polls showing record or near-record lows for Trump signal potential midterm challenges for Republicans. Others contend that his enduring appeal among core supporters continues to be underestimated.

Recent nationwide polling suggests Trump is underwater in 19 states he carried in 2024, as well as across dozens of Republican-held congressional districts. However, declining presidential approval does not necessarily translate into partisan realignment. While disaffected independents could influence competitive races, lower approval ratings do not automatically yield electoral gains for Democrats. Scepticism toward polling persists, informed by previous election cycles in which forecasts proved inaccurate.

As of April 24, 39 percent of Americans approve of Trump’s job performance, compared with 57.7 percent who disapprove, marking his lowest rating of the term following the onset of the Iran conflict. Economic concerns remain dominant among voters, with inflation and prices cited as the most pressing issues, followed by jobs, the broader economy, and healthcare.

Internationally, Trump’s standing remains deeply negative. In Great Britain, his net favourability stood at –67 in March 2026, compared with –70 in January. During this period, his highest rating was recorded in October 2025, while his lowest came in April 2025, at –75.
